I am contacting you on behalf of Prof. Ab Osterhaus, chair of the European Scientific Working group on Influenza (ESWI), with an invitation to represent the EFNNMA at ESWI’s Summit on influenza vaccination strategies for healthcare professionals on 20 November 2019.
The rationale for organizing this event stems from the observation that influenza vaccination of healthcare professionals remains a very urgent issue. Annual vaccination is widely recommended to reduce the risk of healthcare acquired influenza, yet uptake rates remain dramatically low. ESWI will therefore organize a one-day Summit on 20 November 2019 in Marseille, France, at the occasion of the 12th European Public Health Conference, to discuss actions to stimulate the implementation of vaccination policies for healthcare professionals. I hereby have the pleasure of extending an official invitation to EFNNMA to participate at this event.
Nurses and midwives play a leading role in the fight against influenza and we therefore hope you will agree to contribute with a 5 minutes statement to introduce the organization and its views on vaccinating healthcare professionals against influenza. ESWI will invite other organizations to do the same, in order to create a unique momentum and to push the issue to the top of the agenda of the healthcare workers community.
I’m attaching the programme of ESWI’s Summit for your information. We have also developed separate webpages on the ESWI portal website at http://eswi.org/flusummit/ to help promote the Summit and to coordinate registrations of attendance.
If you accept, ESWI can cover your expenses for travel and accommodation (one night’s lodging in Marseille).
Looking forward to your response.
